Acceptable Use Policy

What you may not do with MapleChat, and what happens if you do.

Effective 2026-09-08

This policy forms part of the Terms of Service. It exists for a practical reason as well as a principled one: messaging abuse damages the sender's WhatsApp Business Account quality rating and can get the number restricted by Meta. Abuse on our platform puts every customer's deliverability at risk, so we enforce this policy actively.

You must have a lawful basis for every message you send, and for business-initiated messages that means consent obtained from the recipient — not a purchased list, not scraped numbers, and not consent given to a different business.

You must honour opt-out requests promptly and permanently. Someone who asks to stop hearing from you must stop hearing from you, whatever channel they used to ask.

Prohibited content and conduct

You must not use MapleChat to send or facilitate:

  • unsolicited bulk messaging, or messages to contacts who have opted out;
  • fraud, phishing, impersonation, or any attempt to obtain credentials or payment details under false pretences;
  • malware, or links to it;
  • harassment, threats, hate speech, or content that sexualises minors;
  • content that is illegal where the sender or the recipient is located;
  • goods and services prohibited by Meta's commerce policies.

You must not misrepresent who you are. The business identity on your WhatsApp Business Account must be the business actually sending the messages.

Platform integrity

You must not attempt to circumvent rate limits, quality controls or plan limits; probe or test the security of the platform without written permission; use the service to build a competing product; or resell access to MapleChat without an agreement with us.

Automations must not be designed to trap a person in a loop or to make reaching a human unreasonably difficult.

Meta's rules apply too

Your use of the WhatsApp Business Platform is separately governed by Meta's Business Messaging policies and by your agreement with Meta. Where their rules are stricter than ours, theirs apply. Compliance with this policy does not guarantee compliance with theirs — that responsibility is yours.

Enforcement

Where we believe this policy has been breached, we may limit sending, suspend an account, or terminate it, depending on severity. We will normally warn you first and give you the chance to put things right, but we may act immediately where there is risk of serious harm, legal exposure, or damage to other customers' deliverability.

Reporting abuse

To report a MapleChat account you believe is abusing this policy, write to abuse@maplechat.app with the sending number and, where you have them, examples. If you received an unwanted message from a business, replying with a stop request is the fastest route; see Data Deletion for removing your data entirely.
